LACKING CONFIDENCE IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA? HERE’S WHAT YOU CAN DO!

June 8, 2021

Let’s face it, we all can’t be Beyoncé in front of the camera. Some of us dread taking pictures as we tend to feel self-conscious about our hair, our shape or a specific feature on our face or body. Being the centre of attention and photographed 1000 times on your wedding day can be nerve-wrecking. But we are here to tell you that you don’t need to feel this way as there are a couple of simple tips and tricks to help you find that confidence within yourself and help you glow and shine on your big day!

Know your angles

We all have certain angles that take years off our face or give us a sharper jaw and thinner nose. Not every angle is going to make you look flattering; it is important to know the angles that work for you before your big day. The best way to find out your best angles is to stand in front of the mirror and study your face and body. Adjust your posture, turn to the side and examine how you look from each angle. We all have a good side when it comes to our face so find out yours so that you can radiate on your wedding day.

Perfect your poses

It is very easy to fake it for the camera when you know how to pose. You can slim down your arms, enhance your hips and elongate your neck based off the way you stand and pose for the camera. A simple trick to find out your best poses is to first try them out in front of the mirror and then once you are confident, get a friend or partner to click some pictures of you in those poses so you can see how you look through the lens. Examine and analyse these shots so you can make some adjustments until you are satisfied.

Hide your imperfections

Nobody is perfect and no one expects you to be. Everyone has areas where they aren’t perfect and would like to hide them. Ask yourself what features you aren’t happy about and try out some tricks to hide them. If you are someone who is conscious about your arms, you can hide them by opting for a long-sleeved dress so that you will not have to worry about them on your big day. You can also use certain colours and accessories to conceal and hide certain imperfections.

Practice your expressions

A big part of what contributes to a good shot is your expression. Get that picture-perfect smile to light up your wedding day photos. Try out some different smiles and expressions in the mirror so you can see how you look with every expression. You can also whiten your teeth before the big day so that you can smile with confidence knowing your pearly whites will outshine everything!
